Vodacom Tanzania to complete Phase 2 of NICTBB link in April

Vodacom Tanzania expects to complete the second stage of its connection to the country’s National Information Communication Technology Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) in April 2013, managing director Rene Meza says. According to Meza, the company hopes its customers will benefit from faster data connection speeds as a result of its continued investment in 3G networks and the completion of the Dodoma-Mwanza-Mbeya and Dodoma-Mbeya-Dar rings at the end of the first quarter. The Vodacom official says that his firm has invested more than TZS800 million (USD503,683) in the NITCBB project to date, including the switching on of the Dar-Arusha–Dodoma NICTBB ring last November, which has a capacity of 622Mbps.
